John, Actually, when the prediction of $14 was made, LGND had already fallen below $15 and had closed at $15 on the weekend that the prediction was made. Then when LGND fell to 14 3/8 we were reminded about the prediction of $14. So far the prediction about $14 by last Friday was obviously wrong. We'll soon see about next Friday.

John, do you think the "spin-doctors" will ever cease their misrepresentation?

BTW, any idea where henry got the impression that someone predicted $14 by last Friday? [So far the prediction about $14 by last Friday was obviously wrong]. I can't seem to find this post. henry always links his references, but for some strange reason, this time he didn't. Oh well, I guess today was a good day -- LGND finished UNCH.

John, The prediction of $14 by last Friday has been linked many times now. It's rather typical. Two dates are given and when the first is wrong, then the second is emphasized and the post is "misrepresented" and not linked. Here's the April 11 post (well after LGND had broken through $15):
Message 4031710

Of course if this really wasn't a prediction (kinda like "watch DELL"), then I was wrong when I said earlier (this morning) that indeed a prediction on LGND's movement had already by our most famous nay sayer.

>>What a baldfaced misrepresentation! Sure, in a general market meltdown LGND might hit 14 1/128, but 14??? NEVER!!! NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER!<<

This may be an overstatement but we still haven't discussed stock splits involved in any return to $14. I just pulled up the 10 year chart for Microsoft and the 5 year for Dell & it does look like they had brief declines to previous levels after splits.
Suppose LGND goes to $100 then split 4 for one then has sharp decline from $25 to $14..That would be a sharp decline returning it to $14.

Actually John, when The Prediction was made, LGND had closed at $15
(misrepresentation is rampant on Lake Ligand)

John, Just one more time (from me), since there still seems to be confusion on my post. After getting above $16 at the beginning of this month (as you noted), LGND's price began to slide. On April 8 the price fell below $15. Two days later it closed at $15, but also traded below $15 that day. That weekend the board was told that LGND could get as low as $14 within a week (which it dd not) or within 3 weeks (which it did). Some on this board think that such a prediction was quite remarkable. I didn't think it was for several reasons.

A few months earlier, LGND had also declined steadily from its 52 week high of 18 3/8, to below 11. Right after it broke through 11, we were told that it would hit 10. Instead the price turned around and moved up to over $16.

The when it again began to slide (with no news) we were told (on April 11) that it could hit $14 within three weeks (and since it had already slid below $15, I didn't find such a prediction very remarkable). In fact I said that with such a long time frame (3 weeks), it could hit $15 as well as $14. A day or two later it did hit $15 and a few days after that it did hit $14.

I agree that LGND closed at $15 on April 10. However, if only closing prices are to be considered, then LGND has not "hit" $14 since it closed on Friday at $14 1/8.

Here's LGND's chart for the past 20 days:

(the April 9 date should really be April 10)

My prediction of LGND hitting $15 or $14 was made on April 14 (three days after the prediction of $14 was made):
Message 4057062
Within a couple of days LGND hit $15 and a several days after that it hit $14.

LGND just announced regulatory approval of the leptin-obesity deal with SBH. This may be a precursor for more news.
