Now, all of a sudden, the postponememt of merger/buyout talks between DEC and CPQ of last year makes sense. It was all too threatening to INTC for CPQ to own ALPHA production capabilities! It contaminated the waters too strongly for CPQ to be in competition with INTC at the ALPHA level directly. But the solution of INTC buying the production facility, discounting sales to DEC and hence CPQ satisfies all parties concerned. Or am I being too cynical again, and thinking that the parties involved would really covertly set something like this up?

Actually I think it was worded as "up to" 100million shares. That is not a commitment to buy that many. It leads you to believe they would but if so why now. Why not over the last month when they could of gotten it for 24 to 26. I think it's pure PR.
