Good story Penni. But I suspect that it may not be over.

I'm thinking that years later in their married lives as they are emptying the cat box or walking the baby at 2:30am, when their schedule hasn't permitted them even five minutes of uninterrupted repose with their spouse for weeks on end, there will I'm sure be a fleeting glimmer of remembrance that Mom once started to talk about how something about marriage wasn't all sex. The thought will glow briefly as a silent tribute to your insight, only to be snuffed out by yet another interruption.

They will call you on the phone some day or so later, about something or other. This thought will once again briefly visit them. Out of the blue, maybe even as they are about to hang up, this refound memory fragment will compel them to say something like "I love you Mom."

You'll likely wonder were that came from, all of a sudden and out of context. But then you'll remember. This must be the echo of that tiny pebble you dropped down their well, coming back to you now across the arch of time.

Assignment complete.

Here here for the guy wearing the Mickey Mouse vest with his wedding tuxedo.

Pre-kids, we used to be a presenting couple at weekend marriage preparation retreats for couples getting married in the Catholic church. One of the things we talked about was the wedding day itself, and the best advice I ever heard on the subject was from another couple who warned the soon-to-be-married to not get so wrapped up in the day and needing it to be perfect. Just have fun. And don't concede that your wedding day has to be the best day of your life, because if you do, you are really saying that it's all downhill from there. And it isn't.

Great story. I LOL'd when Ammo said he thinks about it all the time.

Penni -- <<Whose idea was it, anyway.>>

<<I say, sensing an excellent teaching opportunity about life's values>>

Gotta watch out for those "excellent opportunities".
