There are always exactly as many actual sellers as there are actual buyers. The question is who has to be induced. If the mood is bull, buyers need to keep pushing up the price to coax holders to sell. If bearish, sellers need to offer down to coax others to buy.

A way to observe this is to see whether sales are going off at the bid or the ask. You will notice that if a pattern develops on one side or the other, the price will keep moving in that direction. It stays put if it alternates. Generally.
