I don't think that's correct, in that (I think, but perhaps someone who knows better can expand on this) reported shares can drop by other mechanisms, such as the retiring of convertible debt, the expiration of employee options, etc.

Of course, in this PARTICULAR case, you may be right (if none of those other activities occurred).

So there is still about 1.5 million shares left to be bought back. Good, hopefully that will help provide a floor for the stock.
