Banners: What's wrong with them?

Banners= longer time loading pages
Banners+Flashing= more eye strain,eyes are aware of changing images even when your reading somewhere else on the page.......

For starters........

Jenna ----

First of all, let me say, I enjoy reading your views about the Market and specific stocks. I find myself "jumping" for joy when you confirm a stock that I've been watching. Granted, I would classify myself more of an investor and you much more a daytrader.

To address your question, nothing except they take up bandwidth. I wonder what the "click" percentage is on banners. I suppose banners do serve a useful purpose in promoting products and some of my daily sites use them. I'm just not too crazy about having to wait for the useful information while the banner loads. I'd even pay for access to some sites if they would take off the banners.
