rumor alert.. Check out the Ultratech and General Lithography threads if you haven't done so lately. The rumor is it that UTEK is in negotions to acquire ISI. This would put UTEK in the DUV market, technologically, but with no production capabilities for DUV machines- lenses in particular. As I understand it, ISI has never been a source for production machines, although they hold numerous patents and perhaps unique technology. So this would put UTEK in the curious position of holding an asset they can not use, at least not without significant difficulty in development. Competing against the established players would seem like suicide, so maybe they are targeting a niche or planning to use it for their leapfrog strategy into EUV or PGILD process(if that makes sense). Either Art at UTEK has an angle, or this is positioning for a further merger/acquisition of or by UTEK. Speculation?
