greg - Re: " Remember how excited the Intellabees were about Intel getting Alpha."

You are completely mistaken.

Intel NEVER "Got the Alpha".

Do your homework!

Intel agreed to provide FOUNDRY service to DEC for the Alpha - and DEC maintained ownership of the Alpha architecture and design teams.

FYI - I think Alpha sales are in the neighborhood of 300,000 PER YEAR. Not exactly a number to get excited about. If AMD makes the Alpha, they might get 1/3 of this business - the rest goes to DEC/Intel and Samsung.

Greg,

As I said before, Xy would have been doing the "Flower drum girls" song and dance if AMD were to shut out from the DEC deal.

<<AMD now has the lock on Socket 7 and Slot 1.>> Slot 7 yes, Slot1 you must be kidding. AMD can keep that funny socket7, even the Cow is dumping it.
