aww shucks, BigSur, yer making me blush. <g> So you "...want to know in advance that there's a problem in yer harddrive..." Okay, well what are ya going to do after that?

You say, "...turn to the company...". and what?&#151and make them aware of the Y2K thing? Ummm, they already are. A fix will be available when it's available; not like you're going to hurry up the process. And when it's available, it will be announced&#151in a pretty big way given all the attention focused on Y2K at this point.

Ya know, I can always tell it's morning cuz' there's big rooster out back that crows a hell of a lot when it's time&#151don't need no database list which, in itself does nothing, to alert me to that fact. And heck, I don't have to make the rooster crow&#151he just does it cuz that's they way they work. And the software industry&#151well shoot fire, they do the same thing. You ain't tellin' them nothing they ain't already working on. And when it's done, you'll know about it.

Your question: "Do you think that the software makers will openly admit and therefore be liable for y2k problems." Well, can you find a software vendor that ain't already working on it in regards to their own products, past and present? You know of one that's keeping silent on the matter? Shucks that purt near ends all the secrit cunsprusy talk right there, now don't it.

So's I don't really git your question about my posts of late. Can you fill me in on what you're asking?

-MrB

Off Topic: Today Discount Tire, here in Phoenix, completed testing their Y2K fix. I have not heard how it came out. They have been testing it on shut down days for quite a while. At least we will all have tires to drive around with on new years day 2000. Now what about our gas cards?

Big Sur: Right on. I too want to know and be able to then demand a fix from the software companies that sold me defective software. That puts them on the spot. As soon as they provide a fix, they become liable for massive class action suits by more than eager attorneys.
