Christine,

From D.G. Carlson D.V.M. and J.M. Giffin, M.D., "Cat Owner's
Home Veterinary Handbook," Howell Book House, 1983, p. 98:

"Fleas ... In most cases they cause only a mild itch;
but a heavy infestation might cause a severe anemia or
even the death of a cat."

Based on other reading, and personal observation, I have
come to learn that the severity of allergic reactions in
a given animal, in response to a particular stimulus,
can vary over time.

It is quite common to see sensitivity increase with
continued exposures, although sometimes the opposite
occurs, particularly with "childhood allergies."

When allergic flea dermatitis occurs, the condition
can be progressive. First, there is hair loss and
reddening of the skin. Then, ulcers will develop.
If these develop bacterial infections and the cat
is weakened due to anemia, death within a few weeks
seems distinctly possible.

Christine, speaking of orgasms, how would you and the other gals here on Feelings like to suffer from the following....? (True Story)

British doctors announced in December that they had successfully cured one 44 yr woman of . . . unwelcome orgasms. No, really, according to the Lancet every few weeks she would be overcome, with "repeated and uncontrollable orgasms", when, for egs while driving (dangerously distracting!), or listening to the radio. Anyway, a brain scan revealed an abnormality, and a cure was effected using a drug often prescribed for epilepsy.

Hi Christine, Have you heard about Advantage for fleas? We have a bad flea problem in South Texas. They seem to love the heat and humidity, and it rarely freezes. I was going crazy trying to get rid of the fleas on my cats. Holly is right about flea collars. They are useless. I have seen them congregate under the collars many times. I used to use a flea comb on my cats every night and get an average of 15 fleas. After I tried Advantage the flea problem was over. You must get it from the vet. All it takes is one drop between the shoulder blades about once a month. In fact I rarely have to treat them at all anymore. I have heard the same results from others that had a bad flea problem.
