Rich, thanks for your response. A question was put to me: the proposed Sun/IBM OS due out this summer is supposedly designed to compete wth msft and SAP on several fronts. how important do you consider the compatibility issue relative to large corporations upgrading their systems to the Sun/IBM product - since much information is sent over networks and the internet now, it would seem to be that compatibility would be less important than it was when win 95 first came out. i've heard some rumors about the sun/ibm product -several aspects being that (a) programmers prefer to write in java as it is faster to program, (b) this translates into less labor cost, (c) entire systems can be quickly translated into upgraded versions with less cumbersome tasks, (d) and has greater speed. there is also news that the sun/ibm product will compete directly with win 98 - or a version of it will be designed to do so. are you familiar with this information?
