Good for QNTM. I just checked the employee count cp. to WDC and that looks right. SEG is the opposite and they just cut several thousands of employees - as expected in downturns those managed costs have to come down.

Noted that QNTM employment slightly down to 7500 from 7700 last q. SEG down to 87000 from around 111,000+ I think. WDC - do you know if they reduced headcount?

Also being "least v. integrated" is not nec. a good thing. Though components are cheap and plentiful now things could change later on in an upturn. That does not give them as much control on costs as say a SEG (in theory - of course if the components that QNTM buys are being more cheaply produced that SEG's internal versions then QNTM is in better shape) .

Then again being so fully v. integrated as SEG is the worst thing that can happen in a downturn. And SEG's sharp reductions in headcount is proof of this.

There is a happy medium somewhere between these 2 extremes.

Yes and no "wild ass" guesses will change facts. Would never argue this.
