Ever think that maybe these companies will be ready willing
to give out patches to 3rd party people in finished form?
I would doubt that most manufacturers are going to try and
charge for a fix to their program that they should have
incorportated into their product to begin with. That will
mean that these y2k patches will be shareware if you will and
there is no reason I see for why as the patches couldn't
be obtained from the manufactures and then put onto CSHK's
CD. Also I have at LEAST 50 to 75 programs on my PC.
I'm NOT going to take a pen and paper and write down every
manufacturers name... the product name ... the version #...
then go find the website of that company (IF I even have
a modem at all)... or go hunt down a phone number by calling
information a thousand times cuz I might not even know
WHERE LOTUS is located and what number to call as they
probably have 50 phone numbers... and they probably don't
have an 800# listing ... then if I couldn't find the phone
number I could write them and probably send it to the corporate
office in which some kid would toss the letter in the trash
cuz they don't handle y2k issues. After hours of going through
EVERY program on my PC and writing everything down and writing/
calling/emailing/visiting the website of EVERY manufacturer
of EVERY program I have... I'd be pretty DAMN tired...

Don't know about you.. but MY time is valuable... if some
program on CD could tell me ALL the programs in my system
that will need a fix and give me the exact info for obtaining
that fix and all in a matter of a few minutes... I KNOW
I'd be interested. If I have 50 applications with say
40 different manufacturers and this CSHK product can tell
me that 23 of them need a fix then that's 17 manufacturers
I don't have to call or write or visit their website.
I wanna know what is wrong.. what I need to do and who I need
to contact and I want it done quickly. But that's just me.

IF you're still confused... imagine tomorrow is Jan 1 2000
and when you turn on your computer 75% of your programs
are going to stop working. Are you prepared to handle it
without help?

I know you're trying to be "friendly".. but it's Jim... thanks for
the respect.

interesting posts the last 40 or so you've made in your profile..
either they don't make any sense and have nothing to do with stocks..
or they have a very strong degrading tone to them... what brings
you here to the CSHK thread?? all are welcome but I for one would
appreciate you toning things down a bit and get serious.. at least
get serious once in a while... most people care abou their money
and their investments and would like to see the thread stay focused
on the issues without a bunch of silliness (however, I'm all for
taking a breather and smiling a bit but let's be reasonable.)

good night all and take care. if this BILL is the way you post and
the other people following CSHK want this thread to start having
this kind of mentality that you're sharing.. that's not a problem..
I just personally wouldn't want to waste my time here sharing info
and doing what I can to help if it's not appreciated. I do what I do
for my own reasons.. but I choose to share my info and my time with
people here and on other threads because I enjoy helping people.
Guess I'm just trying to figure you out as a friend or someone who
just lacks anything better to do... take care and honestly hope you
have a good weekend. jim
