<<But somehow I doubt that -- just normal business, I reckon <and hope!>>>

But what a strange coincidence! I'm surprised so few remember Penzoil vs Texaco. A very smooth Texas lawyer talked a very gullable Texas jury into that 10 Bil+ award. The case became famous as a prime example of the random and destructive state of tort law in America. Many states have passed reforms in the decade since Penzoil vs Texaco. There will eventually be a federal reform too. Unfortunately, it's been delayed because the current Chief Exec is pretty much owned by the trial lawyer's lobby.

I bought back in today, since I hadn't really wanted to go to 0 shares. Need a core holding on this one. I suspect however, that the two possibilities this guy is now on the board are:

1) Rentech believes Texaco fears him, and they feel the NEED show TX the downside of f---ing them in the current negotiations.

or

2) Rentech has come to certain conclusions about TX's good faith in the current negotiations and will now actively prepare for Plan B.

All in all, I'd prefer that it be "1" above.

Just my random impression of the situation. Appreciate anyone else's take.

Glad to be long again!
