Comparing Cognicase to Informission These companies have a great deal in common. Both have developed market-proven software re-engineering products and offer complete outsourced conversion/migration services, in addition to selling their products to third party IT services firms, or end user organizaitons who wish to handle it themselves. Both have industry-recognized partners of the highest order and both are demonstrating surging domestic and international revenues and earnings as a result of Y2K. Both are into Euro conversion as well. Were they seem to differ is in their origins and where they intend to go after post-2000/Euro work. Whereas Cognicase started as a software company, they are now expanding into more traditional IT consulting and systems integration services. Informission started as a traditional IT consulting services company which has now developed software; for the future, they seem headed towards further leveraging their re-engineering expertise into web objects technology to maximize reuse of legacy system components for developing Intranet applications. Also, their thrust into embedded telecom software suggests a continuing (if not even closer) relationship with the CGI Group/Bell Canada partnership. Financials (most recent quarter) Cognicase Informission (Dec 31) (Feb 28) Revenues 5,921,800 6,203,000 Net Earnings 2,631,750 859,000 EPS 0.23 unknown Note - Cognicase reports its revenues in US dollars - I've converted the above to Canadian using 1.45. Also, Cognicase should be reporting their earnings for March 31 later this week (April 30). Note - Informission's preliminary prospectus (from which I'm working) doesn't identify the number of shares outstanding so I can't provide an EPS figure at the moment.
