Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Cisco has already partnered with Alcatel.

You are correct. But IMO this not that meaningful in todays market place. Remember that Cisco owned a sizable piece of Cascade, then purchased Stratacom. If Alcatel feels ASND product line is superior to Cisco's competing products, and will remain so in the future, I see this as one of the more likely combos.

FWIW, I also see an INTC purchase of ASND as a very good fit for an INTC entry into the WAN market. INTC already has a $1B LAN networking business.
