I did read in USA Today awhile back where it was estimated that the handheld computer gadgets would be a 2 billion dollar industry by the year 2000. I'm going to see if I can retrieve it from their archive section..

>>Could it be that the clik! cartridge will be used by phone companies to send out "yellow pages" of the future.<<

Nope. Vapor!'s too expensive, and too small a capacity. OROM from Ioptics is going to be the next distribution media for applications like this. And, each OROM cartidge reportedly only costs $2-$3 per 128MB. Also, OROM's capacity is expected to be upped to 1 Gig soon after its intial release- still for just $2-$3.

>>And also I see the clik! as a killer app for games. <<

Nope again. Vapor!'s too small a capacity. CD-Rom games are very cheap to make (pennies per 650MB disc as compared to Vapor!'s $10 per 40MB.) And OROM is the clear frontrunner for the future of portable devices, especially gaming. OROM has no moving parts, therefore it should be very very reliable and inexpensive. And, Microsoft is already solidly behind OROM.

Rocky H, Safety department at my place of employment have a Sony digital camera with a 3.5 disk. They love it, of course resolution is not the greatest, Imagine how they will like a digital camera with a 40 Meg click! Also, every computer geek will absolutely have to own a palm pilot with click drive and all the neat software and games that that will be available shortly after click released. New companies will be created to develop software and games for the palmtop pc's. Of course our Gorilla will be there raking in the profits. Dreaming with you.
