Been a long time since I jumped in here but still hanging around, mostly listening to everyone else.

Frederick....I play golf and in Chicago suburb. Unfortunately, I'm a single user of the Nextel system and don't have anyone to DC to...yet! The savings on roam charges, as I travel around the country a lot, are enough to make it a wise investment for me.

I've been reading about your business and your offer to come see you to check it out in person. I'm interested just to see what I can learn from a "smart" person!

For all you longs, I've been adding to my position in Nextel for more than a year now. A great product and a real money saver for me since I'm highly mobile. Can't wait to start using DC at some point. Thinking about networking the whole family here in Chicago!

Appreciate everyone on this thread and the enabling information it has brought me.

Getting Smarter. Got Nextel!

Fred: Funny Nextel story follows, along with, not so funny MOT story.

I just recently gave up my analog cell phone(I used it for batting practice one too many times) for a Pac Bell PCS digital, with the most expensive MOT (phone) money could buy. The MOT was a piece of junk, buzzed etc. We tried switching the cards and battery with other MOTs to no avail, they all were faulty. In addition, Pac Bell couldn't privide the clear sound they advertised. I obtained a refund for the MOT and cancelled the service.

While in the store, loaded with customers, I spoke very loudly, cause I was angry, and shot down MOT phones. In addition, I advised customers to stay away from Pac Bell's PCS system and to stay away from the cheaply made MOT phones. Just as I was at the absolute height of anger, my absolute best at having a shit fit, my fir was standing and I was growing taller, I heard another loud voice speak up from across the store.

The voice said "Why don't you get Nextel, their system has everything, no roaming charges, they are the best." I said very calmly, "keep talking, I just bought their stock".... Fred, was that you? What were you doing in Ca.? Don't tell me, you were trying to convince sea lions that direct connect would work underwater.<VBG>

Unfortunately, the Nokia phone looked better than any MOT phone and would work on Air Touch, plus work on any combination of analog and digital systems across the county. Roaming in my Motor home is a minor consideration. Next time I buy MOT stock, is to short it.<VBG>

Al G., the guy that gets taller when he gets mad. Nextel stock, go up!
