My dad also peed sitting down, at home anyway. He taught me the fine art of Sitting. Standing was taught for away-from-home situations.
I always liked Sitting, because it afforded me the opportunity to Wipe. Standing (and depending on my Fruit-of-the-Looms for a little absorbent action) always struck me as the lesser alternative from a hygienic perspective.
