Boy am I glad you asked that question? I considered asking it, but thought better of it...particularly in light of the fact that the legion of male sitters is increasing! LOL Besides, I could think of a couple of reasons the women might give as to why it is not "logical" (i.e, why are manholes round?). But will wait for them to answer for themselves!

A real man never puts the seat down unless he plans to sit on it. Leaving the seat up is the only real evidence it was put up in the first place...and women should count their blessing and be thankful for it. Geez they blame the guy if they sit down on the cold china without first checking the sit position...no waaayyy it could be their mistake.

As Tim the Tool Man Tayor would say..."arggg aarrhhgg"!
