Like it or not, one of the things democratic governments do is rein in capitalist excesses. Make enough people unhappy, as massive shutdowns of hospitals will, and democratic governments *will* step in.


What if they can't? If all, most, or even just a decent portion of the government's computers start to fail, they'll have more than enough trouble adapting their own systems and dealing with the more "traditional" governmental responsibilities to "step in and save the day"
