<Do you think Dell is building toward being a giant such as IBM or Hewlett Packard>

No. Effectively all Dell does is assemble parts that it buys in. Admittedly it does it incredibly effectively, and all credit to MD for that, but it is not a technical innovator. It does not *invent* anything (other than maybe assembly processes).

DELL is not to be another IBM or HWP. I would expect (with 100% certainty) DELL to remain much more focused than those companies. Primarily, DELL will stay away from being a manufacturer of peripherals (as HWP) and a developer of software (Lotus/IBM). DELL may work with partners to develop these things, but don't expect DELL to actually produce them.

DELL will work to grow the PC and Workstations/Enterprise/Servers businesses through INTERNAL expansion.

If we were to go by what MD's recent pronouncements DELL sees plenty of opportunities to grow from within.I guess this means there are avenues of growth within their present business model thus improving on their strength in business/enterprise,consumer and service sectors in both domestic and international markets. I don't think they want to be like IBM or HP.Just my 2 cents worth.

I am not yet ready to look for the next DELL as I believe they have plenty of growth left in them yet.
