You nailed the CPQ inventory situation with your comment:

" Now if you mean there was no net increase in channel inventories, I'd agree."

If the inventory in the channel is the same then it did not decrease as CPQ has represented. The product mix in the channel has probably changed.

Thus the channel is still "stuffed".

I would quantify this but I have to leave soon.

Paul - obviously the reduction from 8 weeks to 5 weeks would have happened in 3 weeks if there was NO inventory going in... I said additional inventory (unsold days). Your statement is probably more clear but we're saying the same thing. My best guess based on the public pronouncements from CPQ and other news items from the channel is that inventory will be reduced from 8-10 weeks in January to 2-4 weeks by June. Only time will tell, we'll all have the real answers in July when their next earnings report is out. I'll enjoy those beers a lot more in the heat of summer anyway!
