How well do you know Nancy Reagan personally to make such judgments? As for the needs of children, I tend to spoil my children and while I too am not overly effusive with praise, I must be communicating the right message as my daughter is fond of telling her friends she's got me wrapped around her little finger. As far as discipline, my wife and I always try to present a united front although I do have to admit I sometimes stray off the reservation (I think she is too strict, but can't argue with the results). My point is that not every need of our children needs to be responded to. They need to feel they are loved and more importantly, they need to know where their boundaries are. I try to lead as much by example as by direction. I work hard, come home every night, treat their mother with respect and try to love them as best I can. I hope they will do the same when they grow up. JLA
