The stability the OS has on its own, at best, is pathetic. It seems to me MS itself is confused about its own APIs. They might even introduce incompatabilities between different parts of the OS. God knows. I suspect Bill Gates does that on purpose, or programmers there are just a bit incompetent in comparison to other OS programmers (Unix flavors)

In other words, Microsoft, because of its control of the OS, is creating a competitive advantage for itself (integration of the browser) that other companies won't have.

That is the definition of a monopoly stifling competition!
