Trey,

<< GTE is interested in getting started, they dont want to upgrade their backbone network immediately. >>

I believe I read somewere that the Public Utility Comission (PUC) in GTE ILECs monopoly areas is considering complains by the local ISPs, that GTE is leveraging its monopoly to offer the ADSL service. And that supposedly the mid summer deployment is at least postponed till the end of the year. This would definetly explain the ORCTF price slide from $24 to $20.

If GTE could be stopped so could be BEL and US West. Suddenly PAIR and ADTN look not so bad??? Trey, am I wrong again???

Trey:
I'm willing to grant the possibility that the CLECs and the ISPs could become more important to WSTL, and the little guy does sometime grow up to slay the giant--I just ain't betting on it. I also was really floored when GTE escaped. I thought we had that in the bag. However, I disagree about AMTX. If they were not viewed as an important opportunity by the company, WSTL would not have bothered to attempt to aquire. They needed them,- and the really good brains that came with the patents. Damn. It's not enough to have acess to the silicon, or the existing tech-it's the future that counts, and brains are the future. Brains that owe their loyalty to YOUR company, not someone else. AMTX offered that resource.
Today's action (sucks) does not deter me--I'm in since a LONG time ago. I am, however, looking for that "plan C", ----and not finding it.
Thanks--would really like to be more positive. No ulcer-just wish to learn to be better at this.
Jim
