Thread, from CBS Headlines: COMPAQ CEO SAYS 'PRODUCT FLOWING OUT FAST' THIS QUARTER. Oops, sorry, this statement has been reported already. It is still NICE to hear it over and over again though.

God Bless

1) CPQ has shut down some production - Mostly Tandem. They do not currently have much excess capacity as far as I can tell. They sometimes drop a factory from 24 hr to 16 hr production if supply is building up. If sales predictions for the 2nd half of 98 hold up they will need all of the capacity they have to meet demand.
2) I understand that there are several businesses which CPQ may sell, not all are part of the digital business. CPQ has done a good job in the past at managing assets and I expect they will be prudent in the future. Remember that it was only a year ago that CPQ had the highest revenue per employee in the business, $1.3M per employee, twice as high as Dell and 4 times as high as IBM. They are not a weak contender in the efficiency game.
