I've had poor luck with the dial in software also.

Could not connect problems.

Some options not working, etc.

I'm getting quite fed up with Waterhouse too lately.

I let them know today also, (not they they seem to care, but if people start leaving, they will care.)

They gave me the same story they are adding lines, expanding capacity, etc.

I told them I don't care how many lines they add, they still have the absolutely slowest website of any kind that I have every used in my life.

The following is a true experience with Waterhouse

1. Try to logon
2. Try another server.
3. Got logon screen and waited for connect
4. Opened new login screen and waited.
5. Finally got in
6. Waited some more
7. Click for real time quotes
8. Waited more
9. Entered quote symbol
10. Waited and waited
11. Got error for waiting to long
12. Clicked for quote again
13. Waited
14. Gave up on this server and opened a new one and had slightly faster service.
15. Finally got my quote.
16. Clicked to enter order
17. Waited
18. Entered order
19. Waited
20. Got timed out
21. Had to go back and enter order again
22. Entered new order
23. waited
24. Click approve order
25. Waited some more
26. Clicked to view order status
27. Waited and waited and waited
28. Nothing happened
29. Opened a new window
30. Logged on again after much waiting
31. Clicked to get status
32. Was told status cannot be gotten at this time
33. Tried again, waited
34. No status
35. Checked new quote
36. Waited
37 Could not get quote
38. tried again for quote
39. Waited
40. Finally got quote
41. Tried for status again
42. Waited
43. Nothing
44. Logged off the Internet, called the touch -tone 800 line.
45. message said touch- tone trading is not available at this time
46. Pressed for a live broker
47. Finally got one after, ou guessed it, waiting on hold
48. Finally checked my order status, - you guess it, stock went up too much and I missed a buy.

TOTAL TIME ABOUT 30 Minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could have called a "real broker" and done the above in about 30 seconds!

I traded over 300 transaction last year with Waterhouse and every one getting more and more difficult. I had better luck when they first came out with online trading, and it sure stinks now!

I think my Waterhouse days are numbered.

I've recently been looking at DLJ direct Windows software. I am impressed with all you can get and how easy it is to use. I think Webbroker should migrate to this technology where the investor downloads the core software package, and webbroker just provides the data feed. This in theory would be allow a faster loads for the investor and a smaller server burden on webbroker.
