Len,

Had the same difference between 1/30 and 1/31 opening balance. Corrected in opening bal 2/28 on March statement. Only a small amount but I sent Datek an e-mail. They apologized and gave me a free trade.

<< Today, April 29, I received my March 1998 statement. Not bad, the month almost lapped Datek in it's ability to get a timely statement to me.>>

Lucky guy... As to me, latest monthly statement I received from them covers December 97. And all my requests keep sinking into that black hole support@datek.com...

Len...

I just came across this thread. I also just opened an account with Datek this week. Now, I see you've decided to go elsewhere. May I ask where it is you will go?

I finally got fed up enough with Ameritrade to move to Datek. Now, I'm wondering if I did the right thing. I'd appreciate some ideas.

Ken

>>>And,for the third month in a row, my beginning balance differs from the prior month's ending balance.<<<

I have noticed that my balance will be different from one days close to the next days open. Since Datek started marking to market based on the bid (for longs) and ask (for shorts) it's something I expect. For example, I'm short MARG now, and the closing ask was 11 1/4. Unless MARG opens with an ask of 11 1/4, my opening balance will be different in the morning, and will reflect tomorrows opening ask. Perhaps that is the source of your problem? If you go home in cash every night, I don't know what to say.
