Who knows; if MYLX lost two OEMs, ADPT may have gained two.....

Also, MYLX doesn't have much of a product lineup. They are quite limited in what they do and as far as I can tell, just not that good. Very few people seem to care what MYLX does these days. I would write them off. I'm not even sure they have technology worth acquiring.

ADPT is technically interesting. Today the price moved up nicely on a better than 50% increase in volume (using the average as a baseline). The volume was good no matter how you look at it and so was the price.

ADPT has a really nice lineup of products. As far as I am concerned, they are hitting almost all of the ''bandwidth management" areas. As a matter of fact, I see only two real exceptions and I would not wish to touch either one with a 10 foot pole so I consider this a smart move. Just think, they have the disk/memory segment under control, they have the Internet/memory part done and they have the consumer product (videocam and so forth)/memory segment as well. And in each of the categories, they have nicely fleshed out strategies.

To add a little whipped cream on top, they have a few pieces of software which could surprise. I seem to recall hearing rumours of Apple possibly coming out with something that would use this soon.... I am guessing that there might be some announcements around the Apple Developer's Conference which is not so far away.

Low earnings tomorrow could hurt. But I sort of doubt they are going to be that low since they didn't warn. I suspect they have been extra careful giving out ''guidance" lately.

For what it is worth, I have been a buyer lately in the low 20's. I haven't exactly backed up the truck, but I have added several thousand to an already substantial position. I haven't held it all that long though. I bought my first 1,000 ADPT about a week before they released the earnings which caused it to take a dive and I have been a trader since. Sometimes I have bought and sold intra-day, but mostly it's been short holds with a tendency towards accumulation of a base position. So I do believe what I am saying :-)

Cheers, Torben

David: I did a 100-week chart comparison of ADPT and MYLX. It looks like MYLX has been on a steady downward slope over the last two years. Adaptec's drop was precipitous, after a steady climb.
