AXCESS Inc. Names Budow Chief Executive Officer

DALLAS, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- AXCESS Inc. (Nasdaq: AXSI - news; formerly Lasertechnics, Inc.) announced that Harry S. Budow, president and chief operating officer, has been named to the additional post of chief executive officer, replacing Richard C. E. Morgan who remains chairman of the board.

Mr. Budow was appointed president and chief operating officer of Sandia Imaging Systems, Inc., a majority-owned subsidiary of Lasertechnics, Inc., in 1997. The change in the company's name, from Lasertechnics, Inc. to AXCESS Inc., was approved by shareholder vote at a Special Meeting of Shareholders on March 31, l998 in Dallas, Texas.

''Harry's appointment to chief executive officer evidences the board's confidence in the direction of the company and in its current management team,'' said Mr. Morgan.

Mr. Morgan, who is managing director of Amphion Ventures L.P. (formerly Wolfensohn Associates L.P.) of New York, a major financial backer of AXCESS Inc., said his relinquishment of the company's top operating post was planned and in no way alters Amphion's commitment to AXCESS Inc.'s success.

Before joining AXCESS Inc., Mr. Budow served most recently as chief operating officer of Enviro-Tek International and corporate vice president, marketing and business development of Bell Packaging Corp. Prior to that he was senior vice president, marketing and business development of SpectraVision, Inc., a $150-million revenue company.

Mr. Budow holds five US patents for telecommunications and interactive digital video inventions, and a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honor in Liberal Arts from the University of Texas at Austin.

AXCESS Inc., founded in 1982 as Lasertechnics, Inc., consists of two operating subsidiaries: (1) AXCESS Inc. of Dallas, Texas (majority-owned) which produces fraud-resistant wallet-size ID cards, assembles and sells dye-sublimation card printers, and markets technology and solutions for access management and control systems through dealers and integrators; and (2) Lasertechnics Marking Corporation of Albuquerque, N.M. (wholly owned) which provides laser marking systems and related technologies for a diverse range of industrial and commercial markets.
