Todd,

Your reasoning and approach seems very realistic to me. I know that the new guy (can't remember his name) bought shares at 16 and change a few weeks back so he is definitely looking at a paper loss. I also wonder if there may be some subtlety lurking in the timing of Asensio's 'news release' about an hour before the first day of National Market trading for BTIM? Or maybe I am giving him too much credit.

At any rate, I agree that something significant was in the works and the 8 1/2 block of 100k shares (the 5 minute chart makes it look like it traded just prior to the open) is suspect. If I were short I would really want to know who covered. If it was Asensio then his followers should ream him out for it.

Jim

Todd: I don't know if BTIM's management is fraudulent or not but I would not be too quick to discount Asensio's report. Asensio is always bashed by longs when he makes a negative report but in the end is usually proven to be correct. Check his record.
