I'd like to put in my 2-cents worth regarding the Peter/Mary exchange.

I see Peter's point of view, I see Mary's point of view. Cyberspace, by its cloaking nature, allows deceptive people a comfortable element in which to act. So questioning others, in principle, is fair game in my opinion and I support it. On the other hand, my own take on Mary's posts are that she has no interest in deceiving anybody and far from being a hypester, she's just plain thrilled to be a MDIX stockholder.

My experience is that hypesters: a.) don't let themselves get known too well by people (i.e., they do the talking/posting, but don't ask for a conversation in the usual give-and-take sense); b.) they don't focus on one board (they float to wherever the new "super hot" stock is); and c.) they type like this:
"MDIX IS GOING TO THE MOON!!!!!! 10 BAGGER BY NEXT WEEK!!!! GET ON BOARD NOW!!!!!!"

Anyway, Mary doesn't do any of these and I like her posts. But questioning someone, that's ok. Perhaps you should have sent her an SI private message first. That would have kept it off the board until you were ready to go public (if you deemed that appropriate) with your thoughts.

Cheers to all,
Chris

While I have not discussed this with him, I believe that what rt meant by the story is that if you over-think something sometimes you can end up with the opposite conclusion than you reasonably might. He posted it basically in response to your questions to Mary. It was an analogy.
