I agree the name is not too catchy.

My point was that Borland is now only a part of the new company. Just as Bell Labs is only a small part of Lucent now.

What kind of market valuation would a stock in Bell Labs have? Check the P/E and P/S of Lucent.

This is a good thing.

When Lucent's little red thingie ad symbol came out - I remember so many pundits laughing and saying what the heck is that???

A few quarters later everyone knows exactly what that symbol now represents and who it stands for. (though not many know what it means!!)

Someday that bunch of blocks will stand for a great company. Even if it is a funny non-catchy sounding name.
