I didn't say it was a bad quarter, just mediocre. I'd give it a B normally, however, given the company's rather blustery commentary of late and their talk of market share and competition with Tom, 52% year over year license growth and 32% Y/Y domestic license growth won't be viewed as a reason to buy by the analyst community.

Yes Steve, I am aware of the nature of the services business and how that can't be shifted and that there's some discretion in license revenue recognition, but we got no evidence of improving visibility or other clues to suggest that business was pushed off into q2.

Forget total revenue growth it's license growth that's the driver. Trust me the street is not fond of declining underlying license growth rates. Look at psft lately. I own Vantive and I'll be pleasantly surprised if the stock stays above $33 tomorrow. I've only spoken to two analysts since the call, they weren't that upset, but they weren't talking about pounding the table tomorrow either.

Steve, perhaps one day you won't look at the world exclusively through "Vantive colored glasses."

Clam, where do you guess the stock trades tomorrow?

My guess is $32, My fear is $30 and my hope is $34+
