from briefing.com

Brief: Yesterday we noted that Hewlett-Packard (HWP) had held up relatively well during the early week retreat, especially in light of Friday's 8 point surge... At first sign that market tone had improved, so did HWP... Stock shot ahead 2 11/16 to 75... Though we contend that company has run ahead of its fundamentals, short-term stock could climb another 5 points on bullish momentum and relative strength... At these levels, we would be looking to secure profits as long-term outlook clouded by increasingly competitive landscape in both its PC and printer businesses...

and 3Com (COMS)... Latter company, recently labelled by Briefing as a "safe haven" due to its limited downside risk, jumped 1 1/16 on positive comments made at the Hambrecht & Quist conference... Company noted that its sales channel inventory (source of its earlier problems) was excellent and that operating margins will improve to 16%-20%... Expects expenses to be flat to lower in coming quarters... Could be just the "positive" surprise necessary to jump start industry and market laggard... Stock needs to break above 38 on solid volume... If it does, look for a near-term test of the mid-40s.

did you see TXN chart? beauty.

emc chart.. beauty..

anyways,, im very very suprised to see the naz, djia and sp500 all above there 9 day emas!!

jesus.. i didn't expect us to finish the correction so fast.. i would be more worried that we finished the retracement so fast.

i was more expecting a 3-6 week basing period before another uptrend leg.

any thoughts? my view for the rest of this and next week will be basing. i wouldn't be surprised to see another retouch of 21 or 50 day ema even..

[Market Index Update -DJIA]

note: the candlestick analysis is done automatically by metastock. i am not good enough in candlesticks to verify its accuracy.

note: i do not have volume data on the mkt indexes.

====================
My thoughts:

This index was the strongest today, partly due to the merger news.
This strength is not only seen in the closing change but also the position in relation to the moving averages.. still above all crucial moving average supports.

Thus, i would not base mkt conditions/outlook using this index since it is skewed on the positive.
