<<...ASX-4000 ATM switch would be used by future customers...
is there really much of a demand for this much bandwidth capacity? and where and how could it be used.........>>

OC48 is about 2.5G, and 40 to 100G switching capacity accomodates certain range of product configurations.
At the Enterprise level it can be used as core switches for campus network for a large Corporation. Feeding to this can be from fast ethernet, GBit ethernet and local ATM networks.
At the SP level, can be used to support a larger number of ATM edge switchs and Access concentration swotches as it now has 4 times the trunking bandwith of an OC12 pipe.
