Here is something interesting.

IBM reseller program for NCs debuts
infoworld.com
Hunger said that IBM believes the Windows-based terminal concept is too limiting and customers are demanding open standards. At the same time, IBM is glad to see Microsoft finally acknowledging the thin-client market.

"My single biggest inhibitor in the thin-client market has been removed," Hunger said. "Now that Microsoft has entered the market, the confusion that they initially spread to create fear, uncertainty, and doubt has gone away."

I thought sooner or later MS would have to give in to the NC but I didn't think they would give in this fast. I guess they figure if they don't get in now they won't have a chance to monopolize it if they wait too long. Now the question is can they compete in a closed platform or will the open platform rule the day?
