Since I reinstalled win95 a couple weeks ago, my net surfing is slower and sometimes crawls like a snail. SI site is especially slow (is it just me?)
I've used MTUSpeed to 'speed' it up, but no avail. My average transfer rate is ~ 14,000 (got 33.6 modem, and pre-reinstall average transfer rate is 28 to 30k)

Any suggestions to resolve this?

Comparing applications is unfair

Unfair it may be, but it's the only thing that matters. I think if you compare something like Photoshop, you get a pretty fair comparison, since they are trying to sell on both platforms.
