It's a momentum game. You keep your existing customers, get them to buy more each quarter, keep adding new ones, and eventually you get to a big number.

Alright we agree on something. My problem is, I believe momentum for Oracle and Informix will stall or recede when sql server comes out. Based on that presumption I would like any company I own that I know is going up against msft to have some serious momentum going into the battle. For ifmx I believe they will be ok with the IUS technology IF they can start selling it. Thats what I am looking for.

Michelle

BTW I suggest you check out the porting effort at the erp companies and where they are directing their future efforts. There is twice as much money going into the new sql server port than orcl or ifmx. Ifmx will NOT be able to differentiate their product as a base platform for the apps. That is a poor strategy.

Steven,

FYI. There is no longer a price difference or distinction between runtime and development licenses anymore for the engine. Same price, same product. Everything else you said is quite true.

Cheers.
