IBM is one of AAPL's pricing problems at $4,599

They are advertising the thin case , 4 1/2 lb feature , with a 266 mz Pentium II . Strangely IBM omits trade marking Intel using "Pentium" instead .

I suspect IBM , when price threatened (Asia etc), will offer a even lower priced AMD 266mz etc . IBM is also promoting a separate networking "docking" station for the two new models of ThinkPads .

AAPL has a marketing attraction with a high powered small footprint PowerBook but IBM senses it time to forego margin for marketshare .

Like Alomex noted , there are business people who will buy it , but from what pricing I saw at O'Grady I doubt there will be many .

It could be a pre-announcement price game , as I hope AAPL is not being fooled by the Byte Mark tests into pricing complacency .

Jim K.
