Can Cisco offer a network wide solution for multiplatform networks that will beat what Checkpoint has to offer? Not easily. CSCO has to contend with all the CHKPF industry alliances that are in CHKPF's OPSEC. CSCO's software solution of Centri has never been perceived as industry strength - and their hardware solution - PIX treats the firewall as a network appliance. An interesting concept - but it's always been my experience that clients feel more comfortable with what everyone else is doing - i.e. industry strength firewalls in software - Unix and NT - i.e. CHKPF/AXNT/CYBG/NETA.
