Neither SVGL nor Ultratech are long term independent suppliers, SVGL has publicly indicated a willingness to discuss offers, Ultratech has essentially run its course and has limited options. Look for one US supplier consolidated under a major e.g. Applied Materials. Carl, I appreciate your contributions to this this thread, including the remarks above. I don't think I follow your assumption that UTEK has run its course. As far as I know at least two major firms (previously posted on this thread) are still projecting 40% annual growth for UTEK over the next 5 years. 1)UTEK has cash and can sustain itself. 2)As far as I know, we do not yet have verifiable throughput info on how the Ultrabeam and Etec system at PLAB did over the past 90 days, but the hints are that Ubeam is as good or better than Etec. And UTEK is strictly focused on cost of ownership. UTEK is cheaper than Etec. 3)Since Read-rite called the bottom of the DD demand just the other day, UTEK's TFH and "pole-trimming" technology could begin contributing to earnings this year. There was some talk on this thread about UTEK having a contract in the works with one of the big DD companies to use PT. 4) What about the 4 year contract UTEK has with INTC, HP and MOT with the development of the P-Gild, and possibilities of developing a direct write system that integrates P-Gild and the Ubeam? Could this be incentive for any of the above 3 to use UTEK's current equipment over a competitor--like SVGI? 5) I, like you, have a lot of confidence in Art Z. He obviously sees value in ISI and after seeing what he did with the Lepton deal I don't think the current juncture is "flying blind." Just as the Lepton aquisition created opportunity, so can ISI. I don't think AZ is positioning UTEK for sale. Why do you? Is it because of market share?, which Justa detailed on his AMAT link? And I am not looking for one major litho provider. I don't see the industry consolidating that quickly. Am I missing some inherent weakness in UTEK and/or its products that would jeopordize it continued viability? Also, if you get around to addressing Justa's previous post to you regarding ISI, I'm sure all of us would appreciate your comments. Regards! Demosthenes
