Try defragmenting your hard drive.

Many people should do this on a regular basis but don't.

Hope that is your problem as it is easy to fix.

How do you mean endlessly? It's supposed to be running when the PC is on. Can you be painfully descriptive as to how the problem happens, (sounds, etc)?
