DSC and Westell are only jointed at the hip because BEL told DSC you give us Westell's ADSL equipment or no deal for you. Plain and simple. I feel very confident that BEL has it deployment act together more so than any TELCO out there, especially more than GTE. When deployment is announced THIS SUMMER they will give more details on the CO's but I feel they will have westell's CAP/DMT DSLAM technology in the central office. BEL strategy to deploy westell CAP equipment is great because the chips are here the product has been proven and the eventual upgrade to DMT will be done by customers preferences. Most other deployments are wish lists that have not been at all tested(GTE-ORCTF)enough. I think Las Vegas might help some analyst in this group wake up to ADSL...

Hal: The plugs are the DSLAM... ADSL-Line-cards + Stat-Mux-Unit. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the intelligence is in the Plugs, not in some fixed backplane component. I wouldn't want to rip out the backplane in the DSC unit. The same holds true for the 5ESS, SLC-5 and SLC-2000 units... until later.
