The June issue of PCGamer has the reviews index,
I did a quick talley to see which companies produced
the most titles which rated above an 85%...and which
were producing an inordinate number if stinkers.

I am sad to say my old favorite, Sir-Tech is really
suffering lately, no less than three titles which rated
lower than 35%, hope they do better.

Anway, if I counted correctly...

Electronic Arts/EA Sports--7
Activision-4
Lucas Arts, Microsoft, Interactive Magic-3
Ubi-Soft, SSI, Eidos, GTInteractive-2
And with one title at or above 85%:
Avalon Hill, Westwood Studios, Mindscape, Oceans
of America, Interplay, Graphic Simulations, Accolade,
Blue Byte, Virgin, Jane's, Bungie, 3do, Origin, Microprose,
and Sierra.

I could have miscounted here and there, so hope I
did not put anybody's fave gaming company in the
wrong catagory...

Activision narrowly missed having some more titles
up above 85%:

Netstorm 83%
Nightmare Creatures 82%
Heavy Gear 82%
Blood Omen LofK 82%

I should note that Dark Reign, ZGI, and QII all
rated editors' choice awards, ERTS got 5 awards.

All in all, if this is a useful way to rate these companies,
(maybe it is not?..) I would say ATVI looks like a screamin
buy...of course you have to decide whether or not you
like the industry too.

I'm having a bit too much fun trading biotech stocks for
now, but atvi is definately on my buy-the-dips list, along
with Netscape and a couple others.

Oh, I should have also said that
you wont see Battlezone in the index
since the index is for the last year's
worth of titles. The review for Battlezone
is however also in the June
issue, they gave it a 93%and an Editors'
Choice. The June issue also has some BZ
stuff in the hints section of the mag.

Also, I considered titles above 85%
to be "good", PCG calls 80-89% "Excellent",
and 90-100% "Classic, recommended without
reservation to anybody interested in PC
gaming".

Isn't it funny that only playing the demo
of Battlezone has me pumped up enough to be
doing these posts. Gad zooks, I gotta get
me a damn gaming machine, playing demos on
friends machines is soo lame.
