Merlo,
Having recently suffered a crash by a bug or unstable Win 95 operating system . I have to agree on Win 98. I also think people will continue to buy computers.

What may happen is that Wall Street may decide this is a problem. The street is nervous because the general market is so high, and thus it may over react to any apparent bad news at this point.

Look at the reaction to a WSJ article about interest rates last Monday. Financial stocks got hit real bad if I recall correctly. It appears this memo has been widely circulated to analysts. It might have some effect on tech stocks. Compaq is mentioned in the article. I hope this does not happen. We are just beginning to make a come back at this point.

Merlo -- "I don't think this will have any effect on CPQ as people will buy computers with or without Win 98."

If you were planning on buying a computer next month, would you buy it before Win98, then pay $90 extra for the upgrade, and suffer through the upgrade installation effort? Waiting a few weeks makes a lot of sense to me, and I'm willing to bet a whole lot of other people. Late May and early June are likely to be very slow in the retail stores except for profitless "clearance sales".
