manish , the Celeron is making an important point to consumers
one which the PC press is emphasising , clock speed is only one parameter in determining performance .
The K6-2 according to various sources (not just Sanders) is considerably faster on many applications than PII . The latest comparison by Jerry Sanders is that a K6-2 at 300mhz equates to a PII-400mhz .
Another point to consider , just because Intel is releasing a 450mhz in June it does not mean that they will be able to produce large numbers of the chip .
You have been an Intel investor for quite a while , so obviously your perspective is molded by your fellow investors to some degree .
According to their view AMD will continue to lose money and therefore
not be a serious competitor . Some of these investors have been involved for only a few years in tech stocks and yet their posts convey the idea that they know everything e.g.(Yousef Stockman + Engel) . The guy they like to rake over the coals (Jerry) has been in the business since 1969 , he knows how to make money as well as lose it . In the early eighties AMD was the fastest growing Tech stock , in the nineties even though AMD was one generation behind Intel they still had good earnings . Their earnings per share were 1991 $1.52 per share , 1992 $2.49 , 1993 $2.42 ,1994 $2.92 or quarterly earnings close to what Intel is making now . This time around the PC market is much more lucrative and AMD has a far better
product and processing ability . You can draw your own conclusions , Brian
PS ignore the inevitable hype from Yousef
