Ann,

You system will certainly benefit from adding additional RAM, but...I wonder if your mouse problem is related to it. Trying using the TAB key as a substitute for moving the mouse between choice buttons and then the ENTER key as a substitute for clicking on the button. If this works, in a situation where the mouse does not, then your problem might be something other than lack of RAM.

The "usual" way that a lack of memory could make your mouse appear to stop working is if the program was really acting very, very sluggish. You may have been seeing a very lengthy response time. If you have any indication that this is true, (For example if you try to move the Kristi program window around or close it down and it takes forever) then additional RAM may help.

Ann, I concur with Michelino on the RAM situation. The sluggishness that Michelino referred to is caused by the computer substituting the harddrive for RAM with the swap file. Since harddrive speed is much slower than RAM speed the computer will slow down but would likely still work.

I also agree that it is likely that the mouse problem is not related to the RAM situation (although there may be some relationship as it competes for RAM, not much surprises me when it comes to computers). Does the game make use of a mouse? If it does not you will not see it. Some games have a configuration screen for selecting between keyboard, mouse or joystick control. It is possible you are in keyboard mode.

I would recommend more RAM anyhow. You should notice a difference in other applications. 16 MB is on the low end for Win95. You may want to opt for 32 MB total. What other types of applications do you use? Do you do any desktop publishing or graphics types of applications? These types of applications would benefit from 32 MB of RAM or more.

We need to know a little more about your machine to make a specific RAM recommendation. If you could look in the users manual for the RAM spec and post it we will be able to be more specific. Also if we knew the make and model of the computer. What size is your harddrive and how full is it?

Ann, one more thing. We need to know how many slots you have available for RAM. It is most likely in the users manual. For example you may have four slots but two may be taken with the RAM already in your machine leaving two available slots.
