Ibexx,

I'm pleased to see Dr Barrett be more forthright and the point about the second half growth reiterated.

A side comment -

A portfolio manager whose name I didn't catch was discussing the rumored merger of Union Carbide and BP on CNBC and said this about the ongoing trend to increased scale and global reach by companies worldwide:

I paraphrase...Because global companies can benefit from greater economies of scale and have the capital to invest in the newest, most economic technology, vis a vis their much smaller capitalized competitors, thus keeping their unit costs lower, they will have greater and greater success going forward in a world where some disinflation is taking hold.

He wasn't talking about them but I wanted to point out the parallel to Intel vs AMD here.

Barry

Looks like Dr. Barrett is willing to assume a higher profile in managing WS and investors'
relation.

I have been wondering about this too, I agree it is a bit different. I like it, not too bold but just reiterating facts as you see them. Like the analysts do over and over(Kurlack) minus the facts.

Ibexx - Re: "we expect a pickup in the second half,'' said president and chief operating officer Craig Barrett."

Looks like CB is walking the walk and talking the talk!

<''We see no change to our on-the-record comment that the second quarter would be the trough and that we expect a pickup in the second half,'' said president and chief operating officer Craig Barrett.>

Actually, I thought they said, on the conference call, that Q1's
revenues would be flat and Q2 would be a continuation of the same.
Flat is not a trough - is this a subtle hint that Q2 may actually
be down from Q1?
